Nokia 8 the much-anticipated and much – awaited phone from the HMD owned Nokia launches officially in London. The smartphone has more than what a mid-budget device can afford. Smartphone lovers think it to be an out of the box device, but Nokia did it right by keeping the basics alright with their first-ever flagship device.
With more than necessary features to a mid-budget Nokia 8 flagship phone is more than enough. It is one of the best smartphones in its price range with top-notch specifications.
What is missed in Nokia 8?
Though you will still miss some of the qualities that Nokia smartphones had in the past. Some smartphone lovers are missing the PureView camera technology and ClearBlack Display. But those are the features that Microsoft has the rights to use, and that’s why you are not going to see them any soon.
Body and Display
Nokia 8 is made of the aluminum metal, and it possesses a 5.3″ of the IPS LCD screen which is a polarized one and can match up equally the iPhone 7’s display when it comes to outdoor visibility. Over the screen, there is Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection with a 2.5D curved glass over the top. Also, the phone is splash proof with the IP54 certification. Some would say why not an IP67 or IP68 certificate but IP54 is also a good one to keep the price of the device at an affordable range.
Carl Zeiss optics technology is back to Nokia smartphones. This new Nokia flagship device features a dual 13 MP of primary camera with 1.12µm pixels and a f/2.0 aperture. Besides this, the dual color + black & white rear camera has the OIS, Laser AF and LED Flashlight features. In the front, there employs the similar 13 MP of the secondary camera PDAF feature and split screen feature called Dual-Sight in Nokia 8. This new phone is capable of 4K 2160p of full HD video recording.
It possesses a 3.5 mm audio jack, but it also has something called Nokia OZO audio technology. With this OZO feature in Nokia 8, you can quickly capture the full HD 4K video with the perfect 360° crystal clear sound. But the company needs to do something to cancel out the noise produced by the wind while making a video with OZO technology.
Nokia not only joins hand with Zeiss for the camera but also with Google to make the Google Photos the default app gallery for the images that you click from Nokia 8. This phone has the two options of 4 GB and 6 GB with the RAM while they are backed with the 64 GB and 128 GB of expandable internal storage respectively. You can also change the default image storage to microSD card instead of Google Photo App.
Chipset and Android OS
This flagship device from Nokia runs on Android v7.1.1 Nougat operating system out of the box. It is embedded with the top class Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC under the hood with a 2.5 GHz Octa – Core CPU. Also, there is a heat pipe embedded in the device to keep it really cool in the fast working environment.
Battery and Other Features
The latest Bluetooth v5, super fast front – mounted fingerprint scanner, 3.1 type – C reversible USB connector and NFC are some of the stellar features that Nokia 8 brought up. The 3090 mAh non-removable battery is claimed to give the power to the device for a whole day. It is launched in four different color options of Tempered Blue, Polished Blue, Steel and Polished Copper.
Nokia 8 Price and Availability
Nokia 8 is just launched at a press event in London, and it will go on sale in September all over the globe. The Android v8.0 Oreo update can also be expected shortly for Nokia 8 smartphone. The expected price tag for this flagship device is around $705 in the US market and €600 in the Europan market.
