Samsung recently launched the flagship device Galaxy Note 8 with 6.3” Infinity Display. Now the South Korean smartphone giant is looking forward for another flagship device as Samsung Galaxy S9. It will be the first ever flagship device from the company in the year 2018.
Though there is time for the year 2018 to knock the doors but Samsung is already looking at the future flagship device. There are many talks going around about this new and upcoming flagship device. Apple iPhone 8 is making its way out on September 12 and Samsung the competitor for Apple is looking forward for a new phone.
Galaxy S9 is coming up with some amazing features and technology. Samsung is said to file a patent for the new and amazing technology used for this flagship smartphone.
Samsung Galaxy S9 Launch Date
With Apple iPhone 8 launch around on September 12 and Google Pixel 2 on the cards somewhere in October, Samsung is also keen to launch the new flagship phone soon. The South Korean smartphone manufacturing giant is looking forward to launching this new phone in early 2018.
Samsung launches the duo of Galaxy S8 and S8+ this year in March for which the sale started in April. Now if the company follows the trend, the launch date of Galaxy S9 will fall in March. But that might not be the case this time around as it will launch a few months ahead of its predecessor.
As per the latest reports, this new flagship smartphone will be unveiled in the early January 2018. The reason may be that the company wants to overcome the sales of iPhone 8 launching on September 12. This tenth-anniversary phone from Apple might go on global sale from somewhere around December 2017 or early January 2018.
Whatever may be the case or reason, but the latest leaks suggest that Samsung Galaxy S9 will launch at the beginning of January 2018.
Body and Design
Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ will have the same display. Infinity display is the trend of the current generation smartphones. The upcoming S – series smartphones from Samsung will carry this trend. It is rumored that S9s’ will be featuring the same size of infinity display that the 2016’s flagship Galaxy S8 duo have.
So there might be the screen size of 5.77″ and 6.22″ for S9 and S9+ respectively.
The curves on either side will be there with no bezels at all. There are talks about the presence of under screen fingerprint scanner for this flagship device. Recently, Apple was rumored to be working on it for iPhone 8, and Vivo has shown a prototype for it recently.
Bezel-less Design with a cut-out for Selfie
Just recently, a few days ago, Samsung got the patent for a bezel-less display with a cut-out for selfie camera. The patent was filed by Samsung in May 2016, and now the company has got the patent. This new design will take the infinity edge-to-edge display trend too far.
The similar display is rumored to have in iPhone 8, and Essential Phone is already using it. But it is for the first time that Samsung is going to experiment it with the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S9 Duos (S9 & S9+).
Though there is no official statement or any leaked info that Samsung will bring on this design to S9 and S9+, we can expect it to be there with these smartphones.
Samsung Galaxy S9 Chipset (SoC)
A report from April by Aju Business Daily comments it that Samsung and Qualcomm are in talks for a new chipset for the upcoming S – series flagship smartphone. The company is in discussions with Qualcomm to develop a Snapdragon 845 SoC that could be used in Galaxy S9 duo.
The company has already started the mass production of the second generation 10nm Low Power Plus chipset. And South Korean smartphone manufacturing giant want Qualcomm to develop a similar LPP chipset.
Currently, both Snapdragon 835 and Exynos 8895 are built on the same 10nm but with LPE (Low Power Early). But now the company wants to move ahead with the 10nm LPP second generation chipset. As far as the results will be concerned, this 10nm LPP will bring the 10% increase in the performance or a 15% decrease in the power consumption.
So we can see two different variants based on Chipset too.
This is all about the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+ smartphones. More information will be updated as soon as it leaks out from any of our bonafide sources.
